Aoife Gray

Aoife is a fashion and textiles designer as well as this she also combines Fashion Promotion skills into her work. Aoife likes to display life and movement throughout her work and designs; she is especially inspired by photography and the movement and expressions that can be pictured in one still image. Through this project, that she has presented, she is inspired by the movement, emotions and life that is shown through her mother's university film photography and uses this as inspiration for her work.
As a Foundation student, Aoife is keen to grow as a designer and is pursuing fashion design at University next year. Aoife has learnt a lot of new techniques this year and strengths being shown in many areas, including Fashion illustrations and using Adobe Illustrator to create final flats of designs. Aoife is always looking for opportunities to grow and learn, and this foundation course has taught her a lot.

Collage and illustration
Collage and illustration From my concept board I have developed collages inspired by images and textures collected from my research. I have placed these on bodies,as well as using Adobe illustrator to create a silhouette that i have experimented with on different parts on the body; also incorporating my own illustrations- depicting the idea of my ‘student’ raver muse.
Silhouette development
Silhouette developmentDue to the current Global situation, I decided to find items at home and recycle them to create shapes etc, for silhouettes and design inspiration. Taking my research into consideration, I created this 3D piece, inspired by the architectural features at Glasgow University and the Rave lights. Then developed it into some initial design ideas.
Development
Development imilarly to the previous page, I used found objects to create silhouettes and shapes, to extract into initial designs. I used Bath sponges, to create that texture that i commonly found in my research; in the big curly hair, as well as fashion icons/ Celebrities wearing feather hats, creating volume etc.
Final piece
Final piece Throughout my development I used a lot of found items for inspiration, so for my final outcome I wanted to do the same.I upcycle a pair of heels- upcycling and restructuring are forecast upcoming trends according to WGSN. I have taken ideas from the initial designs I created in my development. I decided to make heels as it fits well for a partying student as they can wear them out and i am putting a new look on the ‘normal’ heel. I also collaged my heels on the body, as they can become multi purposeful- creating them into head pieces.
