Dom Reed

Dom is an art and design student specialising in image-making across both illustrative and lens-based media. For his Final Major Project, he wanted to take inspiration from the confinement during the first lockdown: students haven't been able to access the usual facilities and spaces during most of this year, and haven't been able to travel for inspiration. But instead, how can they make the most of the resources that are immediately available?

Looking at the positives of the newly-found appreciation for the local areas, and seeking to find beauty in the everyday. After having to adapt to studying and creating at home, Dom combined this theme with exploring resourcefulness in how an artwork could be made. This lead to creating his own paint using household food ingredients for one of his outcomes, inspired by the use of egg tempera in historic paintings.
