Emily SK
Emily is a jack of all trades, specialising primarily in strategy and problem solving, and using a range of creative skills to precisely communicate her ideas. Emily has a knack for digging out interesting, and often overlooked, insights from her research. The formulation of a strategy is her favourite part of the creative process, which is demonstrated in her concepts and ideas. Emily has been described in feedback as a 'maverick', verging on fine art student, and is able to use these skills to solve problems and convey her proposed solutions to her clients.
'I'm So Obsessive Compulsive Disorder' is a project inspired by my own struggles with communicating my OCD and its impact to people who have no experience with the disorder. It utilises product design to produce a tangible way for people to experience and understand what I go through, and how it influences my life.
Product layout for the 'SWIST' - a product designed and envisioned to solve the OCD based anxiety of using cutlery from places where hygiene practices are unknown.
My design process - isolating key compulsions/obsessions that make up my OCD and visualising them in a way that's tangible to an ignorant audience, to hopefully give an accessible way for them to understand the difficulties of living with OCD.
IT'S NOT A MUM THING, IT'S A HUMAN THING - Project with Rahima Naeem for our D&AD submission, looking at breaking down the stigma and gender/age stereotypes around menopause through a homeware brand that acts as a device to provide factual information through an accessible platform.
THE BRAND - an insight into the thought behind our brand, and why we chose to create a homeware brand to de-stigmatise menopause.
