Final model of light chair – I entered this project only knowing that I wanted to make a chair that could offer exciting aesthetics and provide comfort for the user. My main approach towards my project was to try and fully explore and understand the relationship between the body and chairs.
20 ways to sit on my chair – Due to wanting to understand how my chair will interact with the person sitting on it I decided to experiment with how many ways I could possibly think of sitting on it. The sketch above is 20 different ways I could possibly think of sitting on my chair, however due to the shape I'm sure theres many more.
Chair with no lights – Here is the chair that I built out of rolled tracing paper prior to adding in the lights. This process was majorly time consuming due to the tedious nature of rolling the cones.
Final chair full rotation – One of the aspects of this chair that I really think works well is the multi-dimensional nature of the chair and how it can be enjoyed from many angles. I photographed while rotating the structure to invite a sense of movement.
Reflections – Here is my final model photographed with the light reflecting off the ground, these photographs really allowed me to expand my thinking of the piece and reimagine my chair with different proportions.
