Kane O’Brien
Kane specialises in telling stories and stirring emotions across a variety of mediums such as radio, film, music, and literature.
His main creative focus involves the process of trying to relate to the world around him, understanding the little details in life that often have the most significance, working to portray these ideas in ways that encourage thought and introspection.
His influences range from the avant-garde filmmakers of the French New Wave as well as the spontaneous prose of Jack Kerouac. Using these inspirations to experiment with how the written word can be presented in challenging visual and sonic forms, taking further inspiration from the minimalist composition of William Basinski and the emotive scores of Emile Mosseri.
Currently, he is working on a range of short films that incorporate poetry, spoken word narration, and ambient film scores to create postcard-like films wrought with emotion and sincerity.
