Marco Pedata

Marco is a 21 year old illustrator, originally from Essex but now London based. Having developed a passion for digital illustration since the age of 11, Marco’s digital illustrations continue to carry the same amount of childlike playfulness to them which would make his work perfect for children’s illustration. Marco is a proud member of the LGBT and works in his spare time as a drag queen under the name of “Mocha”. His love of drag and queer expression is a fundamental part of his practise, often blurring the lines between illustration and drag as an art form. Marco’s practises don’t stop at illustration, he often likes to use performance art, makeup and textiles to bring his illustrations to life in drag. Having started drag in 2016, Marco has developed a unique style of makeup known around England as his signature look. His love for illustration flows smoothly into his makeup and drag, choosing to have very graphic cartoonish eyes and exaggerated clothing.
Marco’s love for art started from a young age, but most notably he started digital illustration at age 11 after spending hours watching his cousin use photoshop and illustrator for their work. This inspired Marco to buy his first Wacom tablet with Christmas money and download Photoshop. More recently Marco has moved from photoshop to procreate on the iPad in order to refine his practice and add more hand drawn elements to his art he found lacking from the Wacom and photoshop.
