Solomiya Svystun

Solomiya is a Ukrainian illustrator and graphic designer based in London. Solomiya works in a minimalistic, clear line style, inspired by her background and folk art. She likes to depict everyday life and notice the shapes and curves of objects and patterns on clothes. Solomiya’s works balance between digital and hand-drawn art. She often takes traditional ornaments and motifs to use in her artworks. Being foreign in London, allows her to see the surrounding world through a different prism and stand out.
Solomiya has already worked with :
Woolwich Works Project, Dotyk Zero Waste shop, Green Box,
Humanist Wine, Lychko Jewelry.
Apart from illustration Solomiya loves walking, hiking in the mountains or seaside cliffs, sipping coffee in coffee shops and talking with good people. These activities create a basis for her illustration narratives and help to inspire her with people and landscapes.

Royal Arsenal at Woolwich
Royal Arsenal at WoolwichThis illustration is one from the series I created for Woolwich Works Project. The idea was to show all the benefits and activities of the creative venue, where locals could spend their time. Here I created some flat perspective which allows to see the attractions of the area and imagine sounds and fragrances of the riverside. Please, visit my website to see more pictures.
Illustrations for psychotherapy books
Illustrations for psychotherapy booksThese illustrations where created for my FMP project in collaboration with a psychotherapist. The first image is from the book about Sensitivity to self and the second one from a book about Independence of the life choice. In this project I was keen on creating abstract and meaningful content, as the idea was to make the viewer think and find own their own interpretations in illustrations and text. You can find book illustrations on my website and Instagram page.
Christmas illustration
Christmas illustrationThis illustration was created for the Christmas edition labels: a winter cream and a scented candle. I depicted a couple in a warm clothes under a Christmas star in brand colours which made the products look very cosy and festive. There's also a dynamic composition to emphasise the magic moment and connection we feel during that special time. See more illustrations on my website.
Retro car
Retro carThe illustration was made for one of the university projects about travelling, where we had the same colour palette, but different transport. My object was a car. I was inspired by vintage cars and decided to combine a mini cooper with some retro bits, so the vehicle looks more interesting. In addition, there is some luggage on the car roof, which shows the moving/travelling/exploring, emphasising travelling subject. You can see more of self-progressed transport illustration on my Instagram.
 Green Box
Green BoxThe illustration was created for company Green Box, who recycle waste in Ukraine. On the image i depicted people in the shape of a box to show the diversity of those who care about nature, along with floral elements and birds. Although Green Box has only one signature colour I managed to fit it into my style and create a composition. The picture is quite dynamic: people talk, do sports, cycle and plant seeds. Flying birds also give more movement, which makes it feel free, fresh and easy. For more images, please visit my Instagram page.
